Around the hyperactive Belgian gypsy musician, Tcha Limberger, this voluble string trio embarks on a playful exploration of Gypsy folk heritage of Kalotaszeg, a rural Transylvanian region of Central Europe. Rooted in Hungarian, Romanian and Gypsy repertoire, this virtuoso deployment of violin, double bass and BRACS (a kind of Hungarian lute) recites the frenetic dance music and festive wedding rhythms but also the bitter-sweet songs imbued with a sadness of Slavic expression.
